Turn a goal into a monthly contribution

Enter your target, current savings, months to save and an assumed nominal annual savings rate. The model compounds monthly and adds contributions at month-end. The required monthly contribution is rounded up to cents; that same amount drives the displayed projected balance and contribution total.

Nominal rate is not APY

The entered annual rate is divided by 12. It is not the advertised APY of an account, and the tool does not convert APY automatically. Returns are constant hypothetical assumptions, not forecasts or guarantees. Account fees, tax, inflation and changing rates are excluded. Test 0% to see a plan that depends entirely on your contributions.

Worked example without interest

Starting with $2,000 and aiming for $10,000 in 24 months at 0%, the monthly contribution is $333.34. Rounding up produces a projected balance of $10,000.16. This is a savings-accumulation tool, not a debt-repayment model. If starting savings plus assumed growth already meet the goal, the required extra contribution can be zero.
